The Syrian army and Hezbollah have almost finished military arrangements to gain full control of Lebanon's eastern mountain range with the aim of cleaning the strategic area of Islamist militant groups, security sources said. The ongoing military arrangements are being made through a joint liaison committee headed by a Hezbollah military commander identified as Hajj Hussein A., the sources said. They added that the Syrian army brought in a few days ago a number of rocket launchers, artillery batteries and cannons and deployed them in strategic areas and hills in the town of Zabadani, which had been captured recently by the Syrian army and Hezbollah, such as Qasr al-Namroud, Shakif Ahmar, Qorqoumaz, Ras al-Ghashaa and Jabal Sheikh Mansour.Security sources said the Lebanese Army has completed the linkage among its advanced military points on the outskirts of Arsal through a quick security operation carried out by military units deployed along the mountainous area from Arsal to the towns of Ras Baalbek and Fakiha, areas on the eastern frontier with Syria.
