Tensions between MPs escalated quickly after the start of Tuesday morning's Parliament session, the first of a two-day legislative meeting, before tempers cooled off during the evening session.Separately, Progressive Socialist Party MP Wael Abu Faour criticized MPs' motives around the salary scale, reiterating Hariri's comments that some were using the issue as part of a political campaign in view of upcoming elections.As the session progressed, MPs approved 13 of the 28 articles concerning the controversial state budget draft and tackled several points in the salary scale.The session saw heightened tensions and back-and-forth shouting between MP Ibrahim Kanaan and Finance Minister Ali Hasan Khalil over the salary scale bill. However, following the session Kanaan, the finance minister and Lebanese Forces MP George Adwan spoke to reporters together in a sign tensions had been defused.Berri intervened to calm tensions raised by the two.
