Does a student who doesn't gain the explained knowledge or skill lack intelligence?According to Harvard professor Howard Gardner, there are eight types of intelligence: musical-rhythmic, visual-spatial, verbal-linguistic, logical-mathematical, bodily kinesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal and naturalistic. In his book, "Frames of Mind: The Theory of Multiple Intelligences," Gardner noted that intelligence should not be limited to IQ testing and thus learners should not be labeled into a one specific intelligence, but each learner has several intelligences that cross cut. He adds that although there are several human intelligences, educators throughout the years have focused on only two types, the "verbal/linguistic intelligence" and the "logical/mathematical intelligence".
