hiring is nearing completion: KanaanFollowing testimony Monday from the defense and interior ministers, the probe by Parliament's Finance and Budget Committee into illegal hiring in the public sector is nearing completion, the committee's chair has said. Kanaan said all of the hiring done by the Army and the ISF had been legal, with Cabinet approving the employees, but that whether the hiring was truly necessary would have to be reassessed. While the Interior Ministry itself was found not to have made any illegal hirings, Kanaan noted that Lebanese municipalities, which are overseen by new Interior Minister Raya El Hassan, had hired 342 people after the freeze was initiated.
