MP Chawki Daccache renewed his attack Sunday on Electricite du Liban over the delayed cancellation of a tender, accusing the state-run power company of trying to waste public funds. At issue is an abandoned plan to build fuel oil tanks near the Zouk power plant, which the Energy Ministry now intends to decommission as part of an ambitious plan to bring 24-hour electricity to the country by next year.In a tweet Sunday, Daccache accused EDL of trying to waste $15 million to $20 million on the tender to install the two 25,000-cubic-meter fuel oil tanks -- a claim the company disputes, saying it is in the process of canceling the tender.Daccache hit back at Boustani, tweeting out an announcement from EDL that extended the period to submit offers to install the two fuel oil tanks until June 14, 2019 .
