Under the patronage and in the presence of the Minister of environment Mr. Fadi Jreissati, Carrefour which is operated in Lebanon by Majid Al Futtaim, launched a campaign to encourage the use of environmentally friendly bags and reduce the usage of plastic bags.In 1995, Carrefour opened its first hypermarket in City Centre Deira UAE and through the years, expanded to over 250 Carrefour stores in 15 countries across the region, more than 750,000 customers a day.Carrefour was launched in Lebanon in 2013, today; Carrefour operates 3 hypermarkets, employing over 630 colleagues.Majid Al Futtaim owns and operates 25 shopping malls, 13 hotels and four mixed-use communities, with further developments underway in the region.The Company is the exclusive franchisee for Carrefour in 37 markets across the Middle East, Africa and Asia, and operates a portfolio of more than 270 outlets in 15 countries.
